Beginner Fencing Class – Monday 6:30-7:30 pm
The BBF beginner class instructs prospective fencers in a comprehensive understanding of the basics of foil fencing. Fencers are instructed both in the knowledge of fencing terms and phrases as well as traditional, classical fencing maneuvers and techniques. The beginner class is designed to introduce novices to the art and science of fencing and to produce competent fencers who are ready to begin advanced lessons and fencing in competitions. Beginner classes are on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm over four months. BBF begins a new beginner fencing class three times each year (January, May and September).

 

Competitive Adult Foil – Monday 7:30-9:00 pm
The BBF competitive adult foil class is for ages 14+ who would like to further their skill in foil fencing and compete in local and national tournaments. Classes begin with a cardio exercise routine, followed with advanced lessons in footwork and drills as well as modern tactics and strategy. Fencing is a sport that participants may compete in for life, with sanctioned tournaments locally and nationally for all ages. Further competition hones the skills and techniques learned in the classroom. This competitive class runs all year round for the continued advancement and technical expertise of all levels of fencing, from new competitors to nationally ranked fencers. Classes are year round on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00 pm.

 

Competitive Practice Night – Tuesday 6:30-8:30 pm
BBF competitive practice nights are strictly for electric fencing and fencers who are interested in competing in sanctioned tournaments. Bouts are structured and fenced to either 5 or 15 touches. Fencers are encouraged to work on perfecting specific techniques and tactics in a more controlled environment with as many opponents as possible. All fencers take turns both fencing and refereeing. Private lessons are available as well as strip coaching during bouts. Classes are year round on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm.

 

Competitive Youth Foil – Wednesday 5:45-7:00 pm
The BBF competitive youth foil class is for ages 7-14 who would like to further their skill in foil fencing and compete in local and national tournaments. Classes begin with a short cardio exercise routine, followed with advanced lessons in footwork and drills as well as modern tactics and strategy. Further competition hones the skills and techniques learned in the classroom. This competitive class runs all year round for the continued advancement and technical expertise of all levels of fencing, from new competitors to nationally ranked fencers. Classes are year round on Wednesday evenings from 5:45-7:00 pm.

 

Competitive Epee – Wednesday 7:30-9:00 pm
The BBF competitive epee class is for any fencer who would like to learn to fence epee or expand their skill in epee fencing, competing in local and national tournaments. Classes begin with a cardio exercise routine, followed with advanced lessons in footwork and drills as well as modern tactics and strategy. Further competition hones the skills and techniques learned in the classroom. This competitive class runs all year round for the continued advancement and technical expertise of all levels of fencing, from new competitors to nationally ranked fencers. Classes are year round on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 pm.

 

Club Night                                                                                                                

Open Practice Fencing – Thursday 6:30-9:00 pm
BBF Club Nights are an open house format designed to allow experienced and novice fencers alike to grow and expand their skill levels against a wide variety of fencers and fencing skills. Club nights are open to the public and anyone may come out and fence, regardless of enrollment in the BBF School. Both dry and electric fencing space is available for all fencing levels and weapons. Fencers are encouraged to bring friends, family or invite anyone interested in seeing what fencing looks like. Spare equipment is provided for anyone who needs it and would like to fence. Long pants and athletic shoes are required to fence. New fencers will be shown the basics of fencing and safe practices prior to being allowed to fence. Club nights are year round on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:00 pm.
